Recent developments

- I got a new milk tea shop right outside my apartment complex and a new Korean restaurant around the corner from my house so I'm jazzed.

- I have mid-terms next week. Think of me as I try to remember all 语法 (grammar) and the hundreds of characters I supposedly learner to write over the past 8 weeks.

- My parents are coming to China in 10 days - cool! I'll be playing tour guide in Beijing during May holiday.

- I'm looking for English teachers (I got a promotion and this is now part of my job). Are you interested in coming to Shanghai? Let me know!

现在我在大学学习中文。我的精读课特别难。我觉得语法没意思。我的精读老师喜欢给我们听写。我知道听写很重要,但是我不喜欢听写因为我写很漫。口语课比较容易,所以我在口语可常常写汉字。下个星期我有期中考试,所以我应该学习努力。

I'm in America!

Initial thoughts

"One of the greatest achievements of American civilization is fountain drinks with free refills."

"If you are phoneless and your flights are going to be cancelled, carry lots of quarters for pay phones"

"Snow is so not cool when you're trying to get home"

新年快乐!

我在美国!但是我觉得美国很冷。我的家乡有太多雪。:(

星期天我的朋友教我包饺子。现在我可以包饺子。当然我的饺子很好吃!

A 春节 wish!

May your 饺子 be delicious!
May your firecrackers be loud!
May your 红包 be many!
恭喜发财!

I'm an uncle!

Jason Clark Martin arrived last night (well it was night in China). I couldn't get the picture to load correctly, but you get the idea. Here he is being held by Grandpa. Thanks for the pics, Miriam!

Due to a small earthquake south of Taiwan affecting some undersea cable, Xanga (and a lot of other foreign based sites) haven't been funtioning well, thus no Christmas pictures.

So, instead photos, I give you the word of the year "plutoed". This is according to the renown American Dialect Society. The definition of  "pluto" is "to demote or devalue someone or something."  For example "Please don't pluto me for failing to post Christmas pictures."
